Warm and Halloweeny

October 16 overlooking MacKinnon Ravine west. It was about 8C.

October continues to be warm and halloweeny. Our neighbourhood has gone all out and so has the surrounding neighbourhoods of Glenora, Ravine Drive and Crestwood (basically everywhere we most commonly walk).

On October 30 (Sunday), it was 17C! At The Colombian, the coffee shop we always stop at during our walks, we had yet another Oilers sighting – this time Darnell Nurse – looking very smashing indeed. He saw us, mostly because Tom was wearing his Oilers hat. We got a smile, and Tom said, “Great game buddy,” referring to their delicious win over the Flames the previous night.

Here’s a few photos from that walk, and a few others.

It wasn’t actually meant to be horizontal, it was just super windy!
Tom’s comment: “Why is that thing bum fucking a pumpkin?” You can’t unsee it…

Lilac Season

Tom stopping to smell the lilacs on a rainy walk to the game

It’s not only lilac season, it’s Oilers playoff season. Here we are walking to the game. Weather permitting, I park along my old street in Oliver and we walk to and from the games. Usually ends up being around 10,000 steps. Not so fun fact: we lost 6-5 to the Colorado Avalanche.

Yeah, we didn’t win…

Stick Day!

Went for a walk in Whitemud Ravine with Stella and Sharon on Sunday. There is still snow in spots, but the path down the power line is clear, and the creek is running very high and very fast. Stella found a series of giant sticks and amused herself (and us) trying to haul them away.

It was overcast, but warm. Saturday was beautiful with a bright blue sky (like today, Monday) but I was mostly running errands so I didn’t go for a walk.

A gushing Whitemud Creek

I’ve been walking most work days home, and that will pick up now that the hockey season is almost over (thank god). One more home game, and then we are freeeee! I wish the Oilers were in the playoffs, but the regular season is such a time commitment already, so I’m not sad about gaining some more time in my life. More time, that is, to frolic in the woods after work and on the weekends.

8C (yesterday).
